TT600E or TT600R?

Hi Klaus or anyone, TT600E or TT600R for a long-range desert trip?
Is the motor and therefor fuel consumption the same on both models?

AFAIK , the engine differences between TTR and TTE are that the TTE mount the XT/E motor BUT with the Teikei 27 carburettor , so it's really similar as performance as older XT 2KF
TTR have a more performant Camshaft profile, slightly more compression ratio, big exaust pipe and airbox , HP at engine are really :
TTE 42,8 / 44
(practically as the first XT 600..)
TTR 48,5 / 49,8
by slightly elaborating the TTR (holes in the airbox, louder pipe) is possible to reach 51/52 hp AT SPROCKET .. but not recommendble for overlanding (14 kpl min consumption..)
The only problems of TTE are the weak suspensions (particularly the inversed fork that break seals frequently) and the absence of a Kick-starter , TTE is better geared for an overland use respect TTR that is rather "short"
Both needs reinforcing of the rear subframe to carry loads...

Current list price in Italy for a new TTE is 5241 euro, and TTR is 6270 euro (prices were raised in 2002) but i think you can get a TTE for less than 4800 euro ...these prices are with Italian 20% V.A.T. and plates costs..

Chris, liked the call of the wild! I have a 2001 tt6oor .I took it round spains back roads last year and did a bit of off-road too. 40kg of gear (throwovers and bag strapped on) Acerbis 20l tank MT21s. Got average of 65-70 m.p.g! (I couldn't believe it either) We were taking it easy as it was really bad weather. I am Morrocco bound end of april, this time alloy boxes and rack etc courtesy of www.off-the-road.de. Good prices and good stuff.
