tt600r fork settings
hi,does anybody know how to adjust the forks on a 99 ttr,its the one with ohlins rear shock.paoli forks i beleive.also the basic settings for the front and rear cheers.:D

Ade,
It is a small screw right underneath i.e. on the bottom, of the forks - one each side of course - that is not immediately obvious; so that is for the rebound. On top of each fork is the pre-tension for the fork springs. I haven't fiddled with mine at all; always meant to but I have been distracted by all the other work that cropped up since I got the bike and they seem to work OK the way they are; one reason I got the bike is for the excellent suspension specification. Don't know what the factory settings are supposed to be because my manual, on CD, is for the 2004 TT600RE; if you find this info for the suspension settings or, better still, a manual for the TT600R I would be very interested. forks
hi dave,so is the click screw on top for the compression damping or preload?i cant find much info on these forks although i suspect they are fully adjustable.only had the bike a fortnight and im solveing the probs one at a time.got her starting and running nice, changed the chainset which i suspected was causing vibey takeoff(and wasnt).suspect no cush drive for this.nature of the beast eh.:thumbup1:

I have the owners manual for TTR and TTRE, I will dig it out and put the settings on this weekend. TTR forks are adjustable for compression (top) and rebound (bottom) damping via the screws, the bottom of the fork leg should have a rubber cap over the screw to keep them clean. The TTRE is adjustable for pre-load only via top adjusters. Rear suspension.... TTR adjustable for compression and rebound damping and pre-load. TTRE pre-load only.
TTR suspension is far superior in plushness, although both are strong and reliable. No blown seals or bottoming out etc. |
forks
is the hex nut ontop for preload?
ttr manual would be much appreciated leigh.cheers:mchappy: |
Hi Leigh,
If you have that manual electronically for the TTR it would be much appreciated - as I tried to indicate here I know little about the suspension, the kickstart and the electrics because my manual is for the TT600RE, 2004 model. Didn't realise that there should be a rubber cap over the adjusters at the bottom, but it makes sense! Also, I supposed that the top screw is for the pre-load; learn something every time I get on here! :rolleyes2: Hi Ade, Sounds like it is all coming together! I understand that there are no cush rubbers and I call mine the beast (or the bitch when it is giving me grief!) Dave |
r forks
turns out only reb/comp.damping no preload.:eek3:
|
Did you find out the stock factory settings Ade?
Dave |
Found the manual, forgot mine is in german. Will double check settings with my mates book (in english ) and post for you two.

Here it is...
After considerable effort, here are the settings:
Front forks : Rebound- carefully turn top screw clockwise with appropriate screwdriver until it hits the stop- you will feel it- don't force it! Then back out the screw the appropriate number of "clicks". STANDARD: 15 clicks OFF ROAD: 12 clicks. Compression- remove rubber caps from bottom of fork leg, screw all the way in till it stops, back out the apt no. of clicks. STANDARD: 12 clicks OFF ROAD: 3 clicks. Rear shock : Compression- locate top adjuster on Ohlins resevoir unit, turn clockwise 'till it stops the back out... STANDARD: 18 clicks OFF ROAD: 10 clicks Rebound- Locate bottom adujster on shock unit, tighten to stop, back off.... STANDARD: 18 clicks OFF ROAD: 9 clicks Pre-load is set at 18.5 mm from top edge of top ring to top edge of upper adjusting lock-ring. (75kg rider) Of course you may feel that you need to fine-tune these settings, good luck. |
Something really useful
Thanks very much indeed Leigh, very useful and very clear!!
I will do some adjustments when I am feeling ready to do such experimentation - not yet ridden the bike on anything but asphalt and I still have supermoto wheels fitted, but I have a cunning plan....... Best wishes, Dave ps Any chance of a wiring diagram for the TTR? (don't get if you don't ask!!!) |

I have the diagram sitting on the desk but can't upload it as the file is too big. I am a cyber buffoon so compressing image data is not my forte. Any easy ways to upload?

thanks
cheers leigh,:scooter: i shall make a note of those settings and have a play.
