ttr600re running rich or lean?
my 05 ttr600re since ive fitted a less restrictive silencer
when ridding hard on the road when I shut of the throttle and open it again the bike seems to lag..hesitate for a few seconds then its ok again.. airbox is standard..no mods with standard filter..jetting is factory standard..carb has never been removed in its life..i did a plug chop and plug seems whiteish..thinking of buying a sigma jet kit.. any suggestions... |
A less restrictive exhaust usually makes the bike run a little lean..
However, bogging which clears is a tell tail sign of a rich mixture.. Isn't carburation fun ?? doh Was it fine before the exhaust swap ?? |
I would definitely say it is lean, opening the throttle slams a bunch of air in with not enough gas till the main gets caught up(sort of). A white/ish plug is another lean indication. If you want, try raising the needle 2 grooves if possible, see if it gets better(this won't be the end all solution but will indicate mixture). A better intake is usually recomended to get the gain from the exhaust you paid for.

it wasn't as bad with the standard exhaust silencer..
come the winter im stripping the bike as I want to repaint the frame possibly red with black motor.. I hear good reports about the sigma jetting kits...any of you guys use these? 1998-04 Yamaha TTR600 TT600R TTR 600 TT Custom Carburetor Carb Stage 1-3 Jet Kit | eBay |
I use Dynajets kits but the Sigma should be just fine. It'll give you some options.
