Ultimate XT600???
What are the best mods for the XT600???
I mean engine, carb, gearing, etc..... I am refering to the early kick/kick and electric models. I've heard of these motors knocking out nearly 100 bhp (Check out Slipstream Engineering). I'm just in the middle of having a play about (again.....) |
Dear God
Really!? 100BHP?
The most I've heard of is 70BHP, and that's with the 101mm Piston, ported/polished head, and dual Mikuni FCRs. |

more power?
does slipstream engineering have a website?
I have a xt600e 1990 that could do with a bit more oomph on the green lanes. |

I had a crazy thought yesterday in that why not just get X2 XT600 engines, take the crank case off on the left and right side of separate engines and JOIN the crank... removing an entire clutch assembly and putting a beefier clutch on it.
Seal up all the holes and stick a bigger oil tank on it and voila! , an XT1200EE with 84bhp as stock and more than enough torque to not require a front wheel at all. With a cost of an extra 40 kilos for the engine half. Stick the XTZ660 barrels on it with water jacket and rads and you have a BMW killing XT1320EE super super super super tenere Stick the 90bhp pistons in it and you have 150+ bhp. Use the TT600R alloy bits to save more weight, and a kicker to save more weight and there you have it a super super super super tenere XT1320EE and it'd still do 30mpg. And as a bonus if you get the firing order right it will suddenly not be vibey at all. BMW would be buried forever and unsuspecting 600/1000cc sports bikes owners would be shocked to see what looks like a fat XT600E destroy them at the traffic light races. |

yeh those guys talk a good project but the whole thing they described would never work transmition, balance shafts, lubrication sytem etc.
be simpler to put off road bits on a virago 1200 i'm hoping that i get about 55bhp out of my xt600 project high comp oversize piston with a ported and polished head, diff carbs and exhuast etc. i got rid of some weight too so it should rip |
