Universal rectifier/regulator
 

Has anyone any experience of using a universal rectifier/regulator on the XT600 (1997). I've seen a four pin, two phase one for about a fifth of the price of a proper replacement which is very tempting on a tight budget. I'm just concerned it could be a false economy.

Theres cheap ones on ebay. Just search for xt600 rectifier, and be sure to pick up the models with cooling fins.

I bought the cheapest of the ones which came with a warranty. Not because I expect to get any use of the warranty, but if they feel like their item is good enough to warrent, it should last a long time (and have) :D

Thanks Jens. Do you have any idea if the XT stator is one, two or three phase?

Just doing some compulsory stator-sided jobs these days.

I'm almost sure that there should be 3 phases - stator itself is one circular coil with 3 similar brown cables at the output.

Jens or someone else will correct me if I'm wrong.
