What happened to XT600 forum?
 

When did the forum switch to being a general Yamaha Tech forum, rather than just the specific XT600 forum? I hope that we are able to keep it focused. This is the only English speaking usergroup that I have been able to find regarding the beloved XT600. Thanks to all that provide support.

Yer that was a little dissapointing.

I guess they didnt want to turn the HUB into a bike specific user group.

To be honest, the XT600 forum was full of threads and posts to do with other yams.

I was asking the same question.So no more Yamaha XT 600 forum :(.

Maybe its time that someone started one !!!

If we ask very nicely, Admin might make the link a sticky at the top of this one !

Either that or lobby for its return. After all, the XT600 deserves its own section :)

Disappointing. I hope that new and old members are still able to find it as a resource. This forum was great because it had the right people in the right place. And it was in English! I guess I better work on my German.

I must admit I was a bit confused when my bookmark was not working. I think Ted is right I really would like a specific forum on the XT!! I love my XT and even though I am interested in all bikes, I am only really interested in the technical info for my bike. BRING BACK THE XT FORUM!!!

I've followed the various threads with interest. Owning an XT600E makes me somewhat biased, I know, but I just want to say that if we are to lump all the Yams together under one umbrella, and if the forum's excellent usability is to be maintained, then contributers would greatly help each other if they would simply identify in the topic headings the model to which they are referring.

Failing that, then perhaps sub-forums could be created for the various models? I see that this has already been voiced elsewhere and I understood the For and Against arguments too. At the end of the day, all I ask is that forum users can easily locate topics that are relevant to their own particular bikes.

When all's said and done, however, we have here a superb resource to say nothing of 'community'. Thank you to the behind-the-scenes gurus who make it so ... and to all of the contributers without whom we would have nothing.

Regards the dropping of the XT label on the forum; my personal feeling (and I have nothing to do with any forum setting up) is that, as Big K says, as long as the topics are easy to locate in the forum, then is shouldn't be too much of a change. So I guess people may consider being a little more careful with the title of the tread, so people know which model the posting is about. That was already happening before with people sometimes using exact XT model numbers (eg 2KF) to target specific model information. All the other marque forums manage fairly well. And besides, if almost all travelers on Yamaha are using XT models, then not much will change.

Folks, I'm just gonna say it one more time and then I'll shut up. Right now, before we've gone too far, you have a chance to fix this thing. I hope I'm wrong, but if you change what was a model specific forum to be general one, you will water it down to where it is difficult, time consuming and, or useless to use.

As a matter of habit, posters are not careful about titling their threads even if they have any idea they are supposed to. Right now, on the first page of the newly named Yamaha Tech Forum, 30% of the titles don't relate to any model. What do you think it's gonna be like when there are posts about everything from Razz scooters to outboard motors? Or maybe for the really confused, musical keyboards?

I fear that what was once a forum that was interesting to follow will turn into a place where it's too time consuming to sort through all the BS. Serious intelligent posters who value their time won't be watching or posting because it's not worth it.

Sorry guys, I don't mean to be a wet blanket on your feel good parade, thinking every thing's gonna be alright. It's not. The other tech forums have posts a month old and longer on the front page of threads, a year or so from now, so will this one if nothing is done.

BTW - I know a helluva lot more about PR than I do bikes.
