Where is the fuse?
 

Hi Guys and gals

I have a XT600 first 4 valve model....small tank. It starts and runs fine, kick start only model. But I have no lights indicators etc..I thought it was just a dud battery. I cant find the fuse box.

I have taken off the seat tank and side covers peered into the mass of wires behind the headlight..all i see are connectors and a small black thing that could be a fuse on the positive line from the battery but I have power at both ends of this????

I've got a big tank version from 1985. As far as I'm aware there is no fuse to speak of.The black bit on the positive lead is a circuit breaker which I believe stops the whole bike, not just the lights. If your battery is ok, my guess would be that you have a wire loose somewhere, or a poor connection. Its just a case of patiently going through anything obviously lighting related on the loom.

It seems the last time it went upside down it fractured the ignition switch. So we cleaned the contacts and cable tied it down tight, got lights back, then once running the indicators returned.

Thanks for the info on the fuse thing. It explains alot.
