Which Year of Manufacture ?
 

My 'C' reg Tenere was imported into the UK in 2000. Is there any way of telling which year it was manufactured in ? On one Beemer site I can input my engine/chassis numbers to get some pretty good information - comes in handy when ordering spares.

As you can probably tell its peeing it down outside here in West Wales so I am not very tempted to play outside as I should.

Ask your local friendly Yamaha dealer - it will have been given a C reg based on when it was manufactured, so that will be a good rough guide. You will definitely be able to work it out.

Normally I would but "local friendly Yamaha dealer"s are a bit thin on the ground in Mid/West Wales. The only bike shop for miles actually does BSA !

Is there anywhere on-line that you could check the frame/engine numbers to find the date of manufacture?My Transalp is an Italian import.I have one MOT certificate saying that it is a XL600VH,one saying it is a VJ and an online listing gives it as a VK model.

I haven't been able to find a site letting me 'age' the bike. The 'C' reg, as its an Italian import, is only really an approximation.

I am pretty sure that to get an age-related plate, whoever first registered the bike in the UK would have needed to prove it's date of manufacture.

I got a Honda XR "dated" by writting to Honda UK. There was a thread on here a week or so that related to this.

Why don't you believe your C-plate?

I imported my XT into the UK from South Africa, and it was duly given the correct year plate (A in my case). You should also find "Declared manufactured in 19XX" on the front page of your V-5 document, as I've got on mine.

Why do't I believe my VRM ?

Because I've been there before on other bikes. It is probably correct, I just want to check. My V5 doesn't have that reassuring line.
