X-Ring 520 chains
Hi all!
I got two questions: 1) X-Ring versus O-Ring. Which? cost/quality/durability? 2) X-Ring chains: Which brands/makes are the best? Only asking because i will need new chain and sprockets.... I'll most likely buy a longer chain so I can try some different gear ratios combos... bike: 1990 XT600E with stock engine lol Vando :innocent: |
I bought DID x-ring. Buy it on ebay, a lot of places you can choose the gearing yourself. The last i bought from let me choose a +2 link chan for no extra charge (vs the regular one)
The kit kost around 90-100euros + postage, not bad at all. |

Any quality chain is going to be about the same money. X-ring is supposed to offer a better seal and less friction. As there isn't much coin between the two, I'd go x-ring. 2) X-Ring chains: Which brands/makes are the best? Any of the brands you have heard of should be fine. You might hear scare stories about brand-A always breaking and brand-B not lasting long but I don't think there's much in it. Renthall Regina DID Tsubaki etc. All much of a muchness in my opinion. Have a look at B&C Express | Home page they have loads of options for loads of bikes BYT |
I was quoted 165euro incl shipping for:
1x DID VX chain (+2 link (108 link total)) with rivot link. 2x 14 tooth sprocket. 2 x 16 tooth sprocket. 2 x 47 tooth sprocket. 3 clips type chain link. That wasn't bad a think. The seller was "mot-tei" from the german ebay. ------------- Yeah, wod on the street is that the x-ring is better, price is about the same, so i buy that. |
