XT 600 3TB rear shock specs

Hi! I am travelling through Patagonia and my rear shock is shod....I am looking at changing internal seals and would like to know if anyone out there knows how much and what sort of oil goes into these ****ers!

Dont know, sorry. The shock isnt built to be servicable, but you might know that? I know that some still find a way to take them apart, and make them rn again.

XT 600 rear shock

Yes you can pull them apart and replace seals, which is what I am about to do ... apparently you can get seals locally ...I am hoping that info is correct...the thing is I don t know how much oil to put in them! I guess 10W fork oil but I am guessing ... :(
thx anyway

doubt that youll easily find the seal dimensions for a non rebuildable shock. take it apart (cleanest would be to put on a lathe and machine the weld) and youll be able to measure everything.
the only way ive seen to rebuild non rebuildable is to thread the outer body and turn a special seal holder to thread on...
argentina has a super lively off road scene, am prety sure youll find someone who can adapt a shock off something else.
for oil quantity in non reservoir shock without specs i sugest you first overfill it, colapse it to min and then suck out some 15ml to make some air room, then seal it. should be close. other option is to tap a filling hole at the body's top
and if you happen to pass through Avellaneda on your way south from buenos aires, say hi to my old house, Avenida Mitre 2209... :)
