XT 600 4pt / Fenders ?

Hi,

I just bought my first XT 600 - a 1997 (4pt) model. I bought it without front/rear fenders/mudguard, and I would therefore like to know if it is possible to fit a front & rear fender from a 1993 model ?

Looking forward to hear your opinions ........

Answer is: No!

It is only possible if you also replace the fuel tank and the seatpost (and all the other matching model/years fairings of course).

I've fitted all the 2003XT600E bodywork on to my 1990 XT600E.
Vando! ;)

I think Vando is right. As far as I can see, none of the 3TB and 4PT plastics are interchangeable, with the possible exception of the headlight fairing. The tank scoops, side panels and tailpieces are all different.

(Incidentally, I am looking for body plastics for my 3TB for when I get round to restoring it. The only new stuff I have found for sale is from Kedo - tank scoops at 130 Euro EACH. Of course, on a bike of that age, decent s/h bits are almost impossible to find. The search continues.)

Guys, is that correct? Mako was only asking about the mudguards - not tank-plastics, etc. Surely a 1993 (3TB) front mudguard will fit onto his 1997 4PT, even if the rear 'fender' presents problems.

Sure, front fenders are pretty much universal.

Sorry, misread the post.

What are your solutions / options to putting a low front guard on a 3TB ?

Bumping this one back up to save a new thread.
Sill looking for a low solution as trials guards are a bit flimsy and start flapping without extensive bracing.

Did one of the Teneres have a low mudguard some where along the way ? and... where would I get one?
Haven't figured out how the trials guard and brace might fit. The XT will never be going off road so something close to the tyre is the plan.

Thanks for the photo. Best solution would be for me to have your bike. Otherwise I reckon I could attach the guard with hose clamps or a similar method. If I get a guard then I can figure that one out.
