XT 600E (2003-4PTB) Wont Start After 5 months of storage

Changed the new spark plug, battery charged and has fuel in the tank.
No reason to not start but it doesn't.

What can be the reason for not starting ?

Thanks

Potentially, many possibilities.
While your very basic posting covers the concept that fuel and air mixed together into an explosive atmosphere should ignite when a spark is introduced, it doesn't give a good description of the symptoms you have experienced.

Perhaps -
Your starter motor doesn't function correctly?
A charged battery doesn't mean that it is a good battery.
No spark at the cylinder head?
Fuel blockage somewhere in the line between the tank and the cylinder?
Degenerated fuel after standing for 5 months is a strong possibility.

I presume the starter ect works, and the engine is spinning?
Was anything done when the bike was put away?

I'd clean the carb for sure.

Old fuel could be the reason.

I suggest draining out old fuel and add FRESH fuel.

Drain Carb of OLD fuel. (should be a drain plug on Carb float bowl)

At this point if the engine is turning over at normal speed (good battery) then it should start. If not ... I would look into the Carb. Remove, clean, possibly replace
Pilot jet.

Also, when cranking over, plug ignition wire onto plug and ground plug onto cylinder head and look for Spark when cranking over.

Good luck. bier
