Hi, nice mods I can see you have carbon fibre fork protection where did you find them??

Mick DB1 1 Sep 2007 15:51

Wind spoiler GPS protector, made from 1/8 makrolon, warmed it up with hot air gun, fixed it to a bracket from indicator bolts and handlebar strut

Heated grip switch and 12v power socket bolted to the bracket also - clock just fills a space

Got pissed off with the no-veiw from the mirrors so I cut them and inserted a 2" piece of rod welded um up = VISION

weled SS wing nut to a piece of 6mm SS screwed rod big washer and a Rubber Tap washer = great seat retaining bolts that dont ( Yet ) unscrew themselves

do i see a problem, or am i being paranoid??

Hiya Mick, great mods there... espescially the mirrors!
one thing bugs me a bit though......
the XT is an air cooled motor and the splash guard is in front of the exhaust and the head, would that not stop some of the cooling effect of the air over the fins and exhaust?
not tying to put a damper on your idea you understand, i think it is a good one, keeps a lot of dirt od the engine, just dont want you to ruin a good engine in the process......
anyone else got any thoughts on this?
maybe im wrong?:confused1:

Engine Splash Guard

Hi,

I think down here in Southern Spain I would worry about such splash guard, specially with the amount of heat generated at the top end of the XT600 motor.

I know of at least one company that offers extra cooling fins for both the filter cover and the tapit adjusters.

Perhaps I've missed something with the mod. I hope so.

Anyway, I do like the screen, I think I'll be building one before winter. :)

thanks
Numpty Mick :D

You are right!!!
Even in winter I don't like the idea to stop all the "coolant" air to the cylinder.
Saludos

Hi,

What happened to the pictures?

Is it possible you could repost them or send me some images of your screen design.

Thanks in advance.
