XT or Tenere

This message is posted to everyone but Klaus in particular. I have recently bought an XT600 and the frame number is 39E000345. I think it is around an 83 model. What I want to know is whether this is a standard XT600 OR an XT600 Tenere. Also what are the differences between say a 1984 XT600 and a 1984 XT600 Tenere. Any response appreciated.
Thanks Doug

hi doug,
i'm not familar with foreign model codes, so i don't know from this which model is 39E.
but maybe this can already help you: http://www.xt600.de/xt_stammbaum/xt_typenkunde.html
main differences are:
xt600 ténéré: 28 l tank, oil-cooler
xt600: 11.5 l tank, no oil-cooler
let me know when you find out!

Klaus, my model is the XT600Z (34L) tenere model built in 1983. the frame/engine number is 39E000345. Was this the first year that teneres were built?
Cheers Doug.

Dear Doug,

Just read your posting.

The engine number you quoted (39E******)is the code number used for 1983-84 34L model Teneres in Australia. I have one with a similar number (39E000284). What part of Australia are you in.

Regards

Brian
