XT Speedo woes
Hi folks,
Just been quoted £146 for a new speedo for my 2003 XT600E! The odometer has packed up on mine and after using a couple of different cycle computers with fairly poor results (at the end of the day they are not designed for motos!) am looking for a more permanent solution but £146 seems a bit steep! Any other after market possibilities out there that could be made to fit? Failing that, has anyone got a XT speedo they don't want! Thanks, Matt :) |
Good old ebay usually pulls up some stuff like this.
Yamaha XT600 XT 600 87 Speedo / Clocks on eBay, also Yamaha, Motorcycle Parts, Motorcycle Parts Accessories, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 18-Jun-08 19:26:27 BST) This one looks like whats on my 03 xt600e but it's in KM it says. Lot cheaper than what youve been quoted. worth a look |
Got mine off eBay - paid £19 for it, brand new with lots of 0's on the clock. I wanted to change mine from mph to kph.

I put a trailtech endurance on my 86 xt600. They have newer models with more features and backlighting for nightime riding and such. Because there was no specific kit for xt's they sold me a kit for Honda xr's. I followed the instructions and it fit up no problem with some drilling/filing. This unit has worked great for many years in less than ideal conditions.
Good luck, Pawlie |
I also looked at the trailtech they seem good but why not kill 2 birds with one stone get yourself a gps or sat nav unit, these all give you your speed and are pretty accurate.
As far asI can tell your bike will pass an MOT this way as a speedo is not an MOT requirement. I am faced with this dilema myself as my mtb speedo isnt reliable. :scooter: |
Thanks guys,
It'd be nice to fit a GPS but my budget won't stretch unfortunately. Good to hear the Trailtech stuff lasts. One of the main reasons I need it is because I want a reliable odometer so I know how many miles the old girl has done! Matt :) |
Have ordered the Trail Tech Vector. Thanks for the tips!
