XT600 43F oill breather

Hi , I am trying to put together an XT600 I pulled apart 10 years ago. The poor thing has been sat inn the shed and a few card board boxes since.
I am just stuck on the breather for the remote oil tank. It looks like it should go into the air cleaner some where but I just cannot find where to attach it.
Any help would be appreciated.

It runs to the top of engine rocker cover. Should be a port for it there?

many thanks , that`s one place I should have looked at. You have saved me yet another hour searching .

If only life was that easy, the reason I could not find the place to plug in the breather was that a previous owner had blanked it off.

I am not sure now wether to try to run it with the breather venting to air under the engine or wether to reinstal the spigot pipe in the rocker cover.
I have the carb to rebuild first while I have a think.

XT600 breather

Hi Baffled,
Think you should look on crankcase, LHS near clutch lever, there are 2 connections, different size, front smaller connection goes to oil tank, larger to air box. No breather on head i can see.
Be well,

hi, just modest recommendation since the job is currently about breather hose - with moderate effort you could find a place and install a filter (non-paper) somewhere between engine and airbox. result - cleaner carbs/intake and maybe even cleaner oil.

Hi < thanks for the suggestions. The problem , i think , is that i am mixing parts from a 43f and a 2kf . Most of the parts swop but there are some differences.
I will route the breather back the the air box and the oil trap/filter is a good idea.
many thanks guys.

not near the bike now, but on my supermono racer i added a vent to the inlet rocker cover. very easy to do, just do a hole in the cover and put in it a nipple, secure from inside with a nut (and loctite)
will snap a pic when im next to the bike.

Thanks Turbo. I have a spare cover so while I have every thing in bits it will be an easy job.
thanks for the advice.
