xt600 Carb help
Hello,
I just recently pulled the trigger on a 1989 $500 xt. Its been sitting for 7 years so naturally the carbs are a little gummy. I was wondering about a small jet inside the carb that is only accesible with a long skinny screw driver. I took it out to clean it and it appears to be sealed. Is this just an elaborate plug or what? Its been troubling me. Any other tips on getting this thing running right would be great! Thanks, Todd |
Hi Todd,
If you still have the carb apart and are wondering how to get all the gum and muck out of those little corners, try some white vinegar! Just soak the metal bits (no rubber etc) in the vinegar for about half an hour, you'll be amazed. Don't leave it much longer than that, it is a mild acid after all. We used to use this to clean scuba diving regulators when we were servicing them in the field. Chrispy |
I got it cleaned up. Runs now just bad clanking noise. could there be something stuck from sitting?
