Interesting as I cannot find munch about how to fully restore these areas's. that would be very important knowledge as good used ones are not easy to find or cheap. Or someone that would offer this as a service would be great. For the procedure you describe, I understand that you then first have to machine off some material from the mating faces and then make the holes round again?

not everything is written on the internet... the way my friend did it was to first renew the journal area with a spherical endmill (see pics|), then see how much to remove from mating surface to achieve right clearance and do it with a surfacing mill.



another way is to first lower the mating surface (on a mill, not DIY/sanding) and then bore line the journal.


both ways will not be cheap, so cant assure this will be cost effective.




talk with a serious machine shop that works on engines.
