XT600 electrical issue?

Hi

This morning I rolled out the XT started it up and it died instantly , even the spartan light dash board was dark , first thing I did was check the fuse and it was ok , then connectors to the battery they were ok.

Lights on the dash then worked fine again and the bike started as if there was nothing wrong.

Any diagnosis as to what this might be? specifically ? , I'm glad I caught this at home rather than on the road.

Any thoughts?

Sounds like a dodgy earth.

9/10 of electrical probs on cars and particularly bikes are bad/corroded earths.

Double check behind the light where all the connections are and make sure the female parts of the connectors haven't become loose. If they have give them a little tweak with a pair of pliers being careful not to squash them.

Hope this helps:thumbup1:

Be carefull with the loom where it bend near the Handlebars, sometimes they break there. mine did, I had to fabricate a loom from scratch as they are not available anymore

it does sound like an earth. OR have you disconnected the sidestand switch? that is a PITA! remove it and wires and plug the 2 ends under your seat together,

Job Done.........

Erm there is no side stand switch, I know this as yesterday when letting somebody have a go they managed to ride a few metres with the side stand down before noticing it...

Going to go over the entire loom carefully (again) to find any problems...
