xt600 stumble
Hi I'm glad I found you guys!! I've got a 87 xt 600 I just got running. I bought the bike from a friend. It sat probably two years before I got to it. I cleaned the carbs, and installed a new needle and seat, 130 main jet, and a pilot jet. The carb looked like it had dried up stabil in it. The bike runs good now except it has a steady miss at around 4000 rpm. It only happens if you are at a constant speed. Once you twist the throttle it cleans right up. The bike has a supertrapp pipe on it. I've never worked on this kind of carb. Are the needles adjustable?? If anyone has a clue what I should do I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Airfilter
Make sure your airfilter is very clean. The symptom you describe points to a dirty filter.
Also, make sure you have the correct main jets and pilot jet size. The correct data can be found at http://www.xt600.de/xt_werkstatt/%2B...aten_xt600.htm. The needles are adjustable, but before doing that it's better to make sure of the correct factory settings. It is unlikely that an exhaust pipe will upset the settings so much that the bike will start running badly. Auke |

I would also check to se how the carb needle is set, mine hade the same problem untill I leaned it out a bit
