XT600 tenere carbs
Hi folks, as a complete newbie, could someone tell me where the idle mixture screws are on the carbs on my '88 tenere? (Bike runs fine above 2000revs but a bit lumpy below - though I might richen up the mixture a bit?)
Also, does anyone know where I can download a manual for this model? Cheers. |
Which model?
Is it a 1VJ or a 3AJ ?
|
on my 2003 its on the lower front side of the primary carb, hitten up in a slot. You need a little straight screwdriver for the job.

Hi, folks, thanks for replies so far - how will I know what model it is? Cheers.

As a newbie myself i have discovered that the engine's model number is stamped onto the crank case near the gear lever if i remember correctly. Mine is a 1VJ and is a 1987 year tenere. so your will either be that one or the 3AJ i would presume.
As for the mixture screw i will have a look at my carbs tonight, it will be easy as their in a box at the moment :biggrin3: Stu |

The chassis number should tell you which bike it is, and on my 3AJ model it's stamped on the headstock. The easiest way to see it is to look down beneath the handlebars from the front right hand side of the bike. The format is 3AJ123456.
If it is the 3AJ model then this page taken from the owners manual shows how to adjust the idle speed. |
Thanks - but I have found the idle speed adjuster (bit screw easily turned by hand). It's the idle mixture I'm trying to get to. Cheers.

Ah, i should have read more carefully.

Thanks, mate. Located the screw (which appeared to be fully screwed in, for some reason!). Now have a steady idle at about 1100rpm, and a good pick up instead of fluffing. Not tested on road yet, but optimistic! Cheers.
