XT600E 4PT Clutch cable
This is a bit of a beginners question, so bear with me. I noticed whilst poking around today that the clutch cable on my XT is actually touching the cylinder head. The cable's plastic coating on the cylinder side has gone, either by abrasion or maybe heat, I don't know. Should it actually touch the cylinder head? It seems to follow the correct path and is retained in apparently purpose made brackets. Can you guy's look at your bikes and see if they're the same? Cheers:stupid:

Think mine are the same, but as i recall, theres a metal "thread" surrounding the cable, to shield of the heat.

Thank you for responding. Do you mean an additional "thread" cable surrounding the clutch cable, or do you mean the standard metal spiral that is beneath the plastic outer coating? Because my bike doesn't have the any additional sheath. It was partially rebuilt by the previous owner, he had the frame powder coated, just wondered if everything was put back. Cheers |
There is aditional "spring" that protects clutch cable from heat. You can see it on picture below.
