xt600e acerbis tank tank bag/backpack

Looking for a tank bag that fits the acerbis tank on my xt600e, 2002. I prefer a bag that also works as a backpack. I checked out wolfman, giant loop and HG, but still didn't find what i am lookin for. Any of you have some recommendations?

Hi,

You should have a look at Kriega products, they do a great range of bags that double up as tank/fender bags and backpacks.

Great quality too!

I know, It's my favourite brand. I own a Kriega backpack US25. Amazing bag, indistructible! But I'm not sure that their tank bag will fit my acerbis tank. I'll email them to be sure anyway. Thanx for the reply Coop!

Wolfman tankbags are specifically designed for Enduro tanks...

They don't work as a backpack though. At least the one I have doesn't..

Excellent quality and fitment although not waterproof unless you buy (FOR EXTRA) their waterproof cover..

Kriega

Mate of mine runs a Kriega harness and 20 litre bag on his 3PT with Acerbis tank. It works well, including a pretty rough trip to Morocco, and the only down side I can see (apart from the price(!)) is that it doesn't have any provision for a map case or route card in the top: he slides a walkers map case into the elastics when he needs to. .I've got a photo of the set up if I can work out how to compress it enough to post...

I emailed kriega to ask it would fit. If it does, I will surely go kriega. Absolutely true, lack of space for map is a major downside. Planning to by the new US50 or US 70 as tailpack also...

This is the answer I got from Kriega:

Sorry for the delay.... I'm pretty sure it wouldn't fit from the pictures. I think the tank filler cap might be a problem + the actual length of tank might be too short. You can try and we will refund you on return if it won't. Best regards, Dom.

Doesn't look good. Guess I'll have to do some more research...

Here's a shot of a Kriega bag on an Acerbis tank: I finally managed to shrink the image!
OK so the bag looks a little precarious (partly to do with the camera angle) but he was happy with it and it was actually totally firm even on rough Moroccan pistes. The filler cap was a little proud: big locking Acerbis jobbie, but again it didn't cause any issues. Does that help? Might have another 'action shot' or 2

Thanks for the photo, helps alot! Looks like is does fit afterall. But what about filling the tank? Will I have to remove the bag each time at gas stations?
Maybe I'll just have to buy it and return it if it doesn't fit well.

The bag easily unclips from the harness, which remains strapped to the tank: it has a cutaway for the filler cap. Just like most old school (pre-magnetic) tank bags.

I was wrong! You need to unclip the whole thing. There is no hole in the harness: see pic below. Still pretty quick though.

Hi zjwannie,

I own a XT600 '95 with a 23L Acebis tank and also look for a tank bag (w/ map case and usable as backpack if possible).

I just wrote David Lambeth (the specialist on XTs and from whom I bought a lockable cap, if you may be interested) asking if he sells/recommends any make/model.

As soon as/if he answers, I will post his reply.

Hi,

I'm looking at the SW-Motech Enduro bag (info@bikegear.co.za) - it fits the Acerbis tank on my XT600e.

Hope it helps

Hey Wayne,

have a look at the Wolfman Enduro Tankbag.

Should fit great on the Acerbis.
Would get one myself but find then a bit too expensive...for such a small bag!

Cheers,
RN
