xt600e battery ?
My xt 600E battery seems to be on it's last legs, just got the bke (a few months ago) so not sure how old it is. On it at the moment is a SHIDO YTX9-BS 12v-8ah, is this a the standard/original battery?
Is there a more powerfull option as I use my bike mainly for green laning where there are a few un-avoidable deep puddle/on its side.. cut outs that require a GOOD strong battery to get me going again, Any advise please, Carwyn |
the OEM battery that i just changed in my 03 xt600e was a YUASA YTX9-BS. Id be happy anough with the life i got out of it. The fact i let it sit for 4-5 months without starting and charging it probably was it's downfall in the end. I replaced with a blue label brand which seems to be a relatively well known and advertised brand.
Not sure about more powerful battery options though Gav |
Thanks for the reply Gav,

Hawker Odyssey. All lead plates in the battery. You can leave it in storage for years without the charge fading. Awesome for overlanding, lemons excepted.

I've had four years out of a Varta battery on my DRZ. Seems to cope OK with the rough treatment it gets. I bought it from MDS Batteries, here's a link to what you might need. Motorcycle Batteries > Yamaha > XT 600 E
I think that Absorbed Glass Matt (AGM) batteries are supposed to be the Mutt's Nuts but am happy with the life of my £30.00 battery. |
Ive just been reading on another forum and it seems Oddesey RED top batteries get a good name for being very strong. They are gel batteries. do some searching on the net about them:thumbup1:

This recent thread should be of use. Neil helpfully provided me with two good options. One cheap, one pricey but good. (Am going for the cheaper option!)

Just seen this thread and Matt's response above.
Cheap option from a reliable supplier (but still a good quality item) - SAITO Self-Sealed Maintenance Free Motorcycle Battery CTX9-BS/YTX9-BS 12V/8AH Expensive option - Best battery money can buy (even better than a standard OEM Yuasu battery) - ODYSSEY PC310 12V 310 Cranking Amps - Odyssey Batteries - Odyssey Drycell Batteries Note that Getgeared sells quality German stuff at a great price. They always deliver in 2 days too. Neil |
