Xt600e engine rebuild
 

Hello,
im new to this forum and i was wondering.
Engine is removed and i want to replace engine block because some
home mechanic do his job very bad :mad:, anyways i saw that head, cylinder
and engine block they all have different codes, am I wrong or it is like frankenstein parts from multiple years?

No problem, the 2kf cylinder was used for many years, the top end was changed in 90 and then again on the new model in 95. I recomend stay away from the 90-95(3tb) lower and top end. Gear problems and the possible crack in the top end.

This week ill open the crank case.
so far cylinder and camshaft looks ok for a 75000 km. Atleast for the whole bike, not sure for the engine.

Honestly i dont know what you are asking here, what has been done wrong from home mechanic? You say cylinder and cam ok? but have you measured and done compression test? If you are breaking engine apart i recomend you follow the manual and measure everthing by spec.

My '97 XT has loads of mixed codes - 4PT, 3TB, 3AJ and I'm sure there are others I haven't noticed yet. The left side of my crankcase has the fitting to take a clutch lever even though it had been moved to the right side by the time my model was made. Mix and match seems to be normal.

Engine start and run fine. So i guess compression is ok, no oil burning or loosing. I change oil once since i bought it, change it every 3000-3500 km.
When it was around 5`C it starts fine so i guess no need for cylinder/piston alarm :D
Im worring about crank case.


When i change clutch i saw some glue where it should be casing, they broke something, or fell down. So i bought both crank case. Right one was broken.
Ill post pictures when i opend it up.

The number on the parts its because they were made for that model originally.
If the part isnt updated, the part will keep that number.

Yours seems perfectly fine.

Is your case broken here ? The hole or around it , not the casting marks as in my picture .

The crack to watch out for on the 3TB valve cover , I welded it so as good as the old covers .

Sorry am a bit late but... i complete it. Some noise is from the 4th gear, due to gear damage, nut much but it sounds, not like it was before i change bearings
and heat up and twist first gear fork, i know that i was not to be done but...was in a hurry :rolleyes:

Ill post pictures as soon as i take my bike with new colour ;)
