XT600e generator output
The specs say my 2003 XT600 generator puts out 13.5amps. That's no problem for running the bike with lights on - 5amps. Problem is I feel the cold (a lot) and want to run heated grips and jacket - another 11amps. Is there a higher output stator that will replace the original or has anyone had theirs rewound to give a higher output. Presumably a new reg/rect would be needed although the standard one is supposed to be rated to 20amps.

Hi there, I've had simular results, and the floowing works for me:
H4 Led bulb, 20/30 w (great light, just not so focused) Led rear bulb. Heated grips with dimmerswitch. Homemade heated jacket, with dimmerswitch. Gripp muffs. Voltmeter The dimmerswitches is cheap ones from ebay, originally designed to dimmer led lights ect. I usually crank up the grips to max, to get them completely warmed up, and after 5min I can keep on at around 60%. Then Im able to turn on my jacket. I've also purchaes a 12v 5000mah battery, which I can use just for the jacket, so it takes no load from the bike. This gives me the flexibility to commute 500km a week in the winter, here in Denmark. |
I went with an LED headlight , 3800 Lumen H4 LED Headlight bulb , or H4 LED Headlight Rev2 - ADVmonster ,
** then a led tailight 1157 Samsung LED Bulb - ADVmonster for a flasher style https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...rofit-car/923/ , ** Switched all turn signals to LED units(had to get an LED flasher) and all indicators to LED wedge bulbs , this freed up 95% output for extras. I ran 2 grip heaters and a thumb heater (on carb) all kept on high, had enough extra to power for more accessories if needed but probably would need to do some managing then. . |
