xt600e mods
hello from greece...
does anyone install wrf rear arm in xt? if yes from what year? any info-guide or fotos? i have striped down my xt for rebuild and upgrades and have a ktm duke 640 front fork.and a set of bbs rims from same bike and want the rear arm-suspention upgrade... many fotos from xt600 with wrf rear, but no info for how.can you please help. thanks, paul. |
i do supermoto with an xt600 and at the beggining also tought that the stock steel swingarm would be problem, started hunting for a ttr alu one but not easy to find. that's the easiest fit, shoudl be almost bolt on (or at least looks like..)
but afterr quite few years of supermoto track riding, i must sat that the stock swingarm is not a limit at all, never felt like it was limiting my riding. Would spend money on a better shock though. Actually have one, need to find time to fit.... too many projects! sure an alu swingarm looks better, but it's even nicer feeling to pass people on professional SMs with my cheap steel swingarm XT :) http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...267#post458971 |
yes i know that...do you know any(from other bike) adjustable shock that can be fitted in xt?because here in greece its not easy to find better shock and with capital controls  i cant use ebay or other sites abroad...
plus duke 640 rear rim has 20mm axle if im right and xt 17mm. |
KEDO - Performance Products have wilbers shocks in a lot of different priceranges :)
Im happy with mine. |
xt shock is a bit particular because the airbox realy hugs it at the top area, you would need to move the spring downwards with some spacers and collars. thats what i am doing with the swap market shock i found.
sure willbers is a good option, just costs more than my whole bike :) so cant greeks use ebay? why? you are EU after all.... |
I know kedo...but 300 euro for shock is a lot!
I bought the xt 350euro!!!total cost of bike purchase-rebuild-upgrade should be around 1000euro. i have a friend that has duke 640 forks complete with brake and rim and also has the rear rim... I will get them 250euro. so I only need rear end upgrade...plus rear axle in duke rims is 20mm vs xt 17mm and alu rear is much more beauty plus wrf has fully adjustable shock!!!and can be found used. I will have the frame ready for paintjob by next week so I need to know if I have to weld anything in the frame, before paint.. |
if any one has info please help..
we are eu but due to economical problems you cant send money outside greece max 500euro...also no purchase of electronics from abroad... :funmeterno: :( |
the 17 to 20 axle is easily resolved with a sleeve done on a lathe. my front TZR125 wheel has a sleeve to bring down 17mm of the bearings to 15mm of the XT axle.
another option is to swap bearings, i often do it when i upgrade some older wheels. check the skf catalog, there might be 17mm bearing in the same external diameter as the one in the ktm wheel same more or less for the swingarm, most likely you will need to turn some new spacers, but also maybe to machine the swingarm if it too wide externally or too narrow internaly. done such projects on other bikes but not on an xt. not sure what skills you have in machinig parts, but make sure your mods are done in a safe way |
