Gee flippin' whiz. I was wondering about getting new plastics when (if) I get round to renovating the XT next year (sorry, this year). That little lot comes to 600USD, which translates to 370 of your British quids.
Maybe not ... Suddenly, a repaint looks like a really good idea. |
Interesting thread

go to: Power Parts Plus | Yamaha OEM Parts | Yamaha Outboard OEM Parts
go to: yamaha->motorcycle->1990->XT600EA (the other "EAC" is a california model so somethings might be different on that one as for environmental control or whatever) go to: Side Cover copy OEM part number go back to: Power Parts Plus | Yamaha OEM Parts | Yamaha Outboard OEM Parts and choose Quick Part Look Up Choose Brand: Yamaha on the middle field put in the OEM part number you have copied and SEARCH you will find a list, use it! lol Have fun! Hmmmm
well, my yamaha shop gave me a list of of these parts as far as availability..
allot of them are "out of stock"... he called and they said they have no ETA and they could be dis-continued soon.. Does anyone know of a aftermarket plastic company that makes these panels or at least some of them? I am not looking forward to painting mine.. BTW, KentFallen, What does this mean?? Quote:

They aren't discontinued yet that's for sure but you might have o backorder them...
If you go to one of these websites I posted before you can get them from Yamaha... If you do want to try out aftermarket you can ask these guys.... CARENAGENS EM PLÃSTICO It's located in Brazil sooo...yeah.......... Vando :innocent: |
3 Attachment(s)
ok heres the result, the front headlight cover and rear fender are just painted because Im still not sure if i want to aftermarket on those.
FZR wheels 120/17 front 150/18 rear, could take a 160 on the rear but its not needed. most of the plastic panels had to be shipped from japan, my dealer said they were not stocked in the yamaha warehouse here in the states. |
That looks REALLY good.
What sort of end can is that? |
That's an inetresting chain route!
|
that can looks like a White Brothers end can for the streetbikes..
and..as long as the chain won't catch his feet I think he's alright :P Vando :innocent: |
Its turning out really nice, I am told by some fellow bikers and employees that they think it would look even better with a black tank. So that the next change.
The sprocket for the rear is a 520 conversion sprocket for a FZR(they are normally a 530) and I couldn't find a sprocket in 520 with the 89 FZR bolt pattern, So I bought it from an east coast supplier and either they never shipped it or UPS lost it. So here I wait for another 6 days. :( The can is a titanium and carbon fiber (JSR Performance) that they use on atv exhausts, I had to make the adaptor pipe myself but it is a nice sound when its all setup. I dropped some proggressive front spring in because this thing felt like it would nose dive badly after putting on the larger front brakes. Next on the todo list is carburation, This bike should have a ton more bottom end. I know there are guys that think its perfect, but the truth is that if breathing correctly this bike should power wheelie.(this has nothing to do with sprockets) its how the motor is breathing. So I plan on trying two options, first twin carbs from a 660 raptor motor, And second I have a edelbrock 2 into 1 intake and Im going to fit it with a 39 Kehien from a yfz450. These carbs are super easy to jet, and are really reliable. (doesnt hurt that you can get them on ebay cheap) |

Sharp looking XT!
Swap in a clutch basket and matching primary drive from a '84-'89 XT600. They are geared lower. Acceleration will be crisper, and it will definitely power wheelie...;) Only downside is that you'll feel more of the engine's vibration (it will then vibrate the same as a '84-'89)... Spam alert: I'll have a clutch basket and matching primary drive on eBay soon...;) |
