XT600E question

Hi
First post.
Had an oil leak from small screw to left of drive sprocket next to neutral light sender. Part number 90149-08067 from spanish parts catalogue. I removed it and replaced the copper washer and only then realised it has a kind of locating dowel on the end. Have I done wrong ?? it went in OK and tightened right up.
Anyone have any ideas what it does?
Cheers

Honestly, don't remember last time I touched that screw, since mine has pull lever on the other side.
It should be left-side-analogue to that black bolt on the top of Y,

i.e., holding lever vertically.
According to your model, it should be functional (if you have this lever on the left) or just plug, covering a hole.
Anyways, you should be ok, since copper will do it's job if contact surfaces are not very damaged, moreover, from that catalog it seems that this washer is plain flat (90430-08119).
I suppose, that shape of "locating dowel" was just an side effect of plain washer, created by too much tightening force / heat / age...

it holds the rod attached to the clutch arm from jumping up. if the washer is not too thick, everything should be ok. try pulling the clutch arm up, if it doenst move out you are fine

Bit confused....the screw I'm talking about is on the other side to clutch, round about the gearchange shaft, neutral switch etc..certainly not the "oil filter "side...

Ahhh I think I understand now. The earlier XTs had the clutch operating arm on the other side, hence this retaining screw. Using the same casings for the later E they just plugged the hole with the same screw.
Thanks

Next time upload a photo and mark the location of your problem....

This is much easier way to make people understand you and get a quick solution...

Yes, you're right....sorry. The part number I quoted is used on a million yamahas and my description was vague.
Thanks all the same
