Xt600e rear wheel
Hi All
Not ideal but I got whacked from behind in Chile ( whilst on mi moto). Survived the bashing but the rear wheel needs replacing. Fortunately?? I have to return to the UK for 10 days for family reasons before returning to continue into Patagonia on the 13 Nov.. So I need a back wheel and I'm having trouble sourcing one in the UK. Has anyone out there for any ideas? Thanks |

Thanks very much! Been trawling Chile sites, ebay, breakers, Boonstra becoming very dis heartened. :helpsmilie:
But yes you're right about eBay.de found a couple more there. :D. Hooray, wheel purchased and just crossing fingerz/pressing thumbs that shipping and any import formalities go smoothly. Big big thanks for the top off.and taking the time to help Biv. :scooter: |
Why replace the horribly heavy chromed steel junk rim with another one ?
Use the opportunity to have the hubb laced onto a nice aluminium DID rim. That's what I'd do anyway |

2) Steel rims weigh a lot. This is one reason the XT suspension sucks so bad. Research unsprung weight. 3) Alumium rims are not weak. I'm riding 20-30 year old DID Aluminum rims all the time offroad. And HARD riding. Any rim will bend if your have too much weight and not enough tyre pressure. Alloy rims are easily knocked back into shape. Mild steel rims like the XT bend just as easily. Your experiences must be with cheap Chinese alloy rims. DID make superb alloy rims that last forever. The only reason Yamaha fitted steel rims to the XT is because they're dirt cheap. It's a budget bike. |

Everyone can search internet and find out whats the big issue with alu rims. https://www.google.com/search?q=moto...rev1&prmd=isvn |

But every cheap-ass junk bike use steel ?? You don't understand suspension do you. Unsprung weight is vitally important. Why do you think manufucatures spend a fortune on USD forks, alumium rims and hubs etc. Never mind.... You love your steel. |
