XT600Z Carb Spares
Hi All
Just stumbled across this forum last night. Its great to find an english technical forum. Its hell Babelfishing German.... I'm in Cape Town and need a secondary carb needle and needle jet. Dealers tell me its NLA! Where do I go to get carb spares. I could do with a rebuild kit for both carbs as the float bowl gasket is also flakey. Cheers Gavin |
Spares
I have tried numerous times to get needles and jets from Yamaha, but some of them are just not in stock anymore. Bad luck, then.
The positive news is, the needles and emulsiontubes do not wear as the needles hang almost vertically, I do not know cases of XT6's runningtoo rich because of needle / emulsion tube wear. Float bowl gaskets and other rubber thingies: readily available from Yamaha. I always buy a couple of them as it's a pain to wait for a week for something costing only 5 Eur. As far as I know, for the fb gasket yamaha is the ony one who can provide the preformed variety, the aftermarket kits (which are pretty bad) supply you with just an Oring that you are supposed to put in the not-Oring shaped groove. Unclear how. Auke |
Carb spares.......
thanks Auke
After reading the many posts about carb problems on this board, yesterday I finally tackled my carb problem for once and for all. As I fitted an aftermarket pipe and filter I assumed my bike was running lean. Wrong...the symptoms were in fact indicating a rich mixture. Started with the secondary carb and today did a final needle drop on the primary. Just need to ride and confirm the last change is for the better and its sorted. Local knowlwdge seems to indicate that needle and needle jet wear is common on the Aussie spec bikes imported here. I had to drop the secondary needle all the way down to get the bike to stop surging so I'm suspicious of the needle set on that carb. Cheers Gavin |
