XTZ660 Electric fuel pump
Hi all,
I've had a few problems with my XTZ660 and it turned out that the standard vacuum fuel pump. I removed it and the bike ran without problems, but i couldn't use the fuel in the bottom of the tank, as its lower than the carbs. I've put on an electric fuel pump and a fuel pump relay but I'm having a few problems. The fuel seems to force its way past the float valve in the carbs and leak out of the overflow. I have tried replacing the valve and setting the float height higher than spec but I still get this leak. :confused1: Has anyone else fitted an electric pump? If so did you experience any of the same problems? Cheers, Frank |
sounds like you have fitted a pressure pump the carbs don't need fuel delivered under pressure the oe pump is not a pressure pump it works like a vacuum drawing fuel from the tank so there is enough volume of fuel delivered to the carb without pressurizing the fuel system :innocent:

Pressure pump
Thanks,
I didn't realize that the fuel system on sports bikes was pressurized more than my XTZ? I assumed that the carb could handle it and would just stop fuel entering using the float and float valve. Does anyone know of a lower pressure pump that i can use? |
