XTZ660 Project
Hi all,new to the forum so I'll start with a question.I have a 1998 XTZ660 which has been in a minor accident, "the project bike".I intend rebuilding with better suspension travel and fuel capacity among many other ideas that I have for it.I already have an XR400 front end but am not sure what would fit the rear end that will give me better travel.I have considered a shock off a TT600 but don't have any measuremants and don't know whether it has the same fittings on both ends.Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.Even a link to a shockie chart that has eye to eye measurements for different bikes would be helpful.By the way, this is project is being put together as I finds the parts on ebay etc so any suggestion of Ohlins etc is way out of my budget:crying:.

sizes
my fear is that rear shock of a XTZ660 has different sizes from standard XT\TT shocks.
These are the sizes I know, http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...681#post159635 have a look and compare with yours.Xt\TT Ohlins are rare, but you can find them on ebay for about 200\300 euros sometimes, if size is compatible. |
Thanks Cyberzar, that's the sort of chart I'm looking for:thumbup1:.Any idea where I can get a similar chart with different brands and models so that I can get some measurements and see if any other types of shock will fit.I'm sure there must be a rear shockie off of another bike that has the same fittings (with maybe a little modification) but also give me that extra 60mm of travel I'm after.

Hmm I did this chart using all the data I had from the shocks passed in my hands... if you take all sizes from your shock and send me, I can give you some advices on what shock you can use... basically ohlins shocks can also be modified in lenght, if needed.

I'll see what I can do over the next few days as the shock is still in the bike at the moment.Taking a quick measurement the eye to eye length seems to be around 330mm.Is the linkage system the same for the TT,XT range of bikes. Andrew |
