Willi Motos, Montevideo, legal Bike Parking for one year and Repairs

Willi Motos is a well-regarded shop in Montevideo, offering a workshop, spare parts, and bike storage service to travellers.

It's legal to park your bike in Uruguay for up to one year, so Kevin Lemes is offering long term storage, with servicing, regular battery charging and maintenance as needed.

So long as you're back and leave the country within a year, you could do it several times! Uruguay is nice and central to a lot of South America.

Contact Kevin here

Great place to store your moto!

Kevin has stored my moto for me a few times now and i have referred a few friends to him over these years. All of us have had a great experience with Kevin and his father Willi. To top it off, Uruguay is a beautiful, peaceful little country. Well worth the visit. Montevideo is easy to get to either from BA across the river or by flying from other major cities. To top it off, Montevideo is a nice little city with lots to see and you don't have to take your life in your hands as you drive around visiting. A beautiful beach is always only a stone throw away!

It is important to note that if you take the ferry across from BA with your moto, they will only give you a 90 day permit. It is my experience that it is only at the land Ports that they will give you a 365 day Import Permit.

Buenos suerte!
Craig

Excellent repair and storage place in Montevideo!

I have stored and serviced my Gold Wing from Canada at willi Motos through Kevin Lemes and have had an excellent experience doing so. His storage facility is a mgreat safe place to leave the bike and the repair shop does great work for reasonable prices. Really great family based business! Ken

Red face Recommend Kevin and Willi Motos

I can also recommend and back up Kevin and Willi Motos for bike storage.

Montevideo is a perfect chilled out city to finish or start your trip as well. Close to the beach, beautiful colonial city, friendly people, nice weather, good steaks, 1hrs ferry ride from Buenos Aires, easy to navigate and has international airport connections.

Kevin and the guys are professional and very friendly. They even shouted me a pizza dinner from the gourmet Italian Pizza joint across the road!

The storage facility is 10mins down the road from the Willi Motos bike shop. Its secure and all the bikes are covered. They will even start and run your bike as frequently as needed and will charge the battery also if required.

They even have a small bike museum at Willi Motos which has some classic old and rare motorbikes (photo below), even if you aren't storing your bike you should check it out.

cheers
Dom

Perfect storage location and shop

Following a tour down to Ushuaia from Ecuador I stored the bike with Kevin in Montevideo. He put new tires and a battery on over the summer (in N. America) and in 2013 I took the bike to Bolivia, returning to Kevin's. This year new tires, a tune up, and off to Brazil. Really the perfect spot to store your bike for up to 365 days. Great guys, 100%.

Serviced my bike in Montevideo

Just met Willi and Kevin at Willi Motos and was able to use their facilities to service my bike.
I also bought and fitted a front tyre there, and found the place relaxed and very helpful, plus Willi has a great knowledge of where to go (and where to give a miss!) from his personal travels through the continent.
Great collection of old bikes littering the place, too. Worth a look.

Is it easy to buy and leave Uruguay with a bike for a UK citizen ?

Does Willi sell gringo bikes ?

It's a nightmate if not impossible to legally do so from Argentina.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
