Martin Litschauer, world_spins_as_fast_as_we_rideIceland: Fire and Ice |
With spectacular video recordings and unique photos, I bring you closer to the world of Iceland. Whale-sighting in the fjord, sleeping in a tent for six weeks, traveling alone, camping on a soccer field, animal encounters, and a volcanic eruption are just some of the adventures I was able to experience.
MARTIN LITSCHAUER's passion is travelling the world with his motorcycle and camera, seeing the people and cultures, living the highs and lows. In recent years, his travels have taken him across Europe, from the Scottish Highlands to the Bosphorus, and from Iceland to the edge of the Sahara in Morocco. He experienced numerous adventures on and off the motorcycle, got to know people and cultures, experienced personal highlights and experienced low points. In 2022, his trip took him to Iceland and the Faroe Islands. A volcanic eruption, snow on the tent, numerous river crossings and almost 10,000km later, he has had many more experiences and is looking forward to many more adventures.

Tom LillEinmal Deutschland - Neuseeland über Zentralasien und China [Germany via China, nearly to New Zealand |
[EN] "Let's go to New Zealand on a motorbike", said my long-time friend from my hometown to me and I knew immediately what he meant.
In May 2023, the time had finally come, but all alone! The itinerary was changed shortly before the start, southern Europe, Turkey, Russia, Central Asia, China, Laos - towards New Zealand. First time in Turkey and no idea where to go? No problem! Clutch failure in the middle of nowhere in Georgia? No problem! Entry and transit through Russia? Isn't there a war going on there somewhere? Entry and transit through China - 7500 km in 29 days - a country with many facets. Shipping to Perth, Australia, four weeks late!!! New Zealand without a motorbike - better than nothing. Australia - what an awesome country!
Conclusion: 11 months - that's definitely not enough. And there are at least four reasons to go again, but only if you come to my presentation!
TOM LILL is a 55-year-old from Germany who has been riding motorcycles since 1995. After travelling to nealy every country in Europe, he decided to ride from Germany to New Zeeland via central Asia from May 2023 to March 2024.

Mat Docherty, Vintage RidesVintage Rides - Awakening Adventures |
Royal Enfield and Vintage Rides, the world's largest Royal Enfield-only motorbike tour company, bring their passion for adventure travel to thrill seekers and motorbike enthusiasts around the world. Vintage Rides was founded in 2006, after a 20,000-kilometre journey across the Indian continent on a Royal Enfield. Behind the wheel: Alexandre Zurcher, 19 years old. This motorbike trip was a first. A personal challenge to prove to himself that there are no limits to adventure, except those you set yourself. It was the start of a new life, fuelled by an unbridled desire to share the experience.
Today, Vintage Rides operates on four continents, 19 destinations with over 1,500 motorcyclists per year. This presentation will focus on Mongolia, showing a short film of riders' experiences and amazing scenery. Join us on this virtual experience and learn about all of our tours and destinations.
MAT DOCHERTY got his license five years ago and never looked back! He rides around 30,000 km per year in Europe and overseas. He works with Vintage Rides in the DACH region allowing normal riders to become adventurers on guided tours around the globe.
How about you?
We're all here to learn, and there's LOTS to learn! We want to do more presentations and seminars - but we need volunteers to give them! Any topic you can contribute having to do with motorcycle travel, maintenance, planning etc, lasting 20 minutes or more, would be great. Please sign up here.

Information about the area
Places to go / things to see (before or after the event !) :
Perched high above the Danube, the impressive Aggstein castle ruins are one of the most famous and fascinating fortress ruins in Austria. This medieval castle, which stands on a 300-metre-high rock in the Wachau, not only offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape, but also a rich and eventful history. The ruins attract thousands of visitors every year, who immerse themselves in the world of the Middle Ages, enjoy the spectacular views and take part in the numerous events that take place here.
The Roof of the Danube - the centrepiece is the 960 m high Jauerling – the highest mountain along the entire Danube river. This nature park connects the Wachau Cultural Landscape, which has UNESCO World Heritage status, with the southern Waldviertel. No other mountain on the 2,850 km long Danube is higher than the Jauerling, which is rich in views. More than 700 meters of altitude separate the Danube bank from the summit area. The entire Jauerling mountain range covers 11,500 hectares and is designated as a nature park.
An adventure into the world of wine on the “bent” river!
A little further away...
Wasserlochklamm https://wasserlochklamm.at/en/
One of the most popular destinations in Landl/Austria is the Palfauer Wasserlochklamm. This is ensured by a breezy suspension bridge, numerous wooden staircases and bridges, five intoxicating waterfalls, a wonderful view over the river Salza and the mystery all around “Wasserloch” itself.

New to Horizons Unlimited?
Horizons Unlimited was founded in 1997 by Grant and Susan Johnson following their journey around the world on a BMW R80 G/S motorcycle. The website, HUBB forum and regular events across the globe have inspired thousands of people to follow their dreams and take the road less travelled.

Membership - Show you're proud to be a Horizons Unlimited Traveller!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love overland adventure travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events such as this one (18 this year!); we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, the HUBB or to receive the e-zine. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
You can join at a reduced rate as part of your meeting registration. Note that new Memberships with your Meeting Registration are applied as of the Meeting date or as soon as possible thereafter, not earlier, unless you make a special request in the Comments box when you register.
