Aberdeen to Dar Es Salam
Hello,
I would appreciate any help regarding the following:
1. Will a LC 80 fit into a container for shipping or will i need to use a Ro Ro service?
2. Does anyone know if it is possible to ship an LC 80 from Dar Es Salam to Singapore?
3. Oh, my partner is Russian, does anyone know how easy or difficult it is for a Russian citizen to collect visas on route through Africa?
Basically, after being inspired by Overland Cruisers and their obviously knowledgeble CEO (hello Julian), i have decided to quit work, buy a LC 80 and attempt the following.....after a spin around Russia and the CIS states (simply to make my trip easy to start with - the wife will translate etc)
Through Europe to Turkey into Syria etc through to Egypt and head on down to Dar Es Salam where i hope to be able to move on to singapore and travel SEA.
Ok looking forward to any advice.
Regards
Pat

Yes it should fit in a container - will be fairly tight and would be sensible to double check measurements but should fit.

Hi Pat,
Julian's pesky like that isn't he?? Yes, an LC 80 will fit in a container, it's very tight, and getting in and out of the car once in the container is a feat of gymnastic agility, but possible.
We had a 2" lift and a roof tent & ours was OK.
Best wishes
Lucie

We have shipped our LC 80 series 3 times in 20' containers. Once we had to remove the rooftop tent the other times not. But the rooftop tent fits under the vehicle in the container. We had 2 full spare tires on the back and a ARB bumper on the front and the LC fitted in length wise fine. You do have to squeeze to get out of the car.
Safe travels
Janet

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
