Now the Adventure travel show in London, with its talks etc. COMBINED with some hardware might be the way to go, it would certainly make me more interested. Im swaying more toward the London show (Im in Bristol so almost equidistant!) but will likley venture to the abenteuer-allrad show and maybe the RGS one up north end of May.
who knows.

Whilst it's true there won't be seminars and talks, because the Trade Stands are low cost you are more likely to find 'small traders' there. Exactly the same as the Motor Show, the most interesting stands are not the bling manufacturer's stands on the ground floor, they are the little un's on the first floor which are far better.
Also, for me the bloke's got it right from the off - only £5 adult entry - and these days with the horrendous price of fuel, low entry is very welcome. Fair play!!! Doubtless seminars and the like will come in due course. Little acorns an' all that.

Lonesome - you'd better update your location or have you got a very long drive / ride to get to the show
Found I can't make it as got family commitments that day

Meeting up...
Should we look to establish a meeting point on Sunday so that we can introduce ourselves?
I will be lurking around the various stands looking for bits and bobs...

Makes a change from . Me, I never drink at shows!
As it happens it will be a dry show being only one day. Sure we'll make up for it at all the others. See you there Matt.
And just in case others are still wondering about going, let me repeat what I said before about this event. It's cheap entry (£5 adult admission is more like it), it's going to be varied (yes the big players will be there, but there will also be plenty of small guys), and as it's the first show of it's type I feel it deserves supporting.
I'll be there on a joint stand - D3 - wearing several hats - Landy Rally Euro 4x4 Charity Drive, Pyrenees 4x4 Tours, 4x4 Overland Forum, Macks 4x4 info, 4x4Calendar ... and CONVOY for HEROES (in aid of Help For Heroes, an attempt to break the world record for the Largest Land Rover Parade at Heritage Motor Centre, Gaydon over Easter weekend). That's all!!!

Show report...
I popped over to the show yesterday. The venue was packed with all the traders - plenty showcasing vehicles and adventure trailers.
Overall I think it was worth the people aspect more than the buying opportunity - good to catch up with old friends and the various traders.
Hopefully the traders felt it was worthwhile...
Few photos from the day:

good show old bean
Yes, we had a good show. About time too, we did quite a few shows last year and none of them were much good for us.
Cheers,
Matt

I popped along on Sunday and have to say it was OK. I'm coming at this from the two wheel view point so it was never going to be as good as the NEC bike show for me. I was on the look out for a few things (Tent, cooker, etc) and was a little disappointed. There was only one stall selling camping stuff and it was (understandably) all big stuff - no good for a biker really.
Have to say, I'm really glad I already have all I need for a trip. Walking around all the options reminded me how hard it is when you are the start of organsing a trip. There is SO MUCH to buy and so MANY options.

Just trawling though some old posts and came across this one. Not certain if this show will be taking place February 2013, but in the meantime there is always the Adventure Overland Show
Don't forget, it's free entry to all overland vehicles/campervans/trucks over 3.5 tonnes as display vehicles, so inform any owners you may know. The Who's Attending section of the website is interesting as is the Display Vehicles section.

Just to let you all know, David Round who ran the travel show at Warwickshire Exhibition Centre 2011 is not running it in 2013.
Instead he has announced a new event - Donington 4x4 Show to be held 17th February 2013 - www.donington4x4show.co.uk

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
