How old is the Hilux?
If it is pre-1995...you have a good chance. As the Hilux was essentially the same vehicle sold in North America as the Toyota pickup.

Post 1995, the PickUp was replaced with a Tacoma which does share a resemblance with the current Hilux but not as much as it used to.

One thing to do is compare parts similarities by using online tools such as this...
Conicelli Parts Center

This is where I go for Genuine Toyota parts. Look up similar parts for your Hilux under here, using the North American name of Tacoma or Pickup.
Hope that helps.

Simon,

I would say it depends on what motor you have. If you're running a diesel, then finding parts in N. America may be more difficult. If you're running one of the petrol motors like the 2.7 I4 or 3.4 V6, then you shouldn't have any problems. Suspension & drivetrain on Tacoma's/Hilux's etc is all the same on the front end. I've found few differences between 95+ Tacoma's and Hilux's other than minor body design and the obvious diesel motor choice.

Enjoy your trip!

David

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
