Just a thought....
well then like I said in my first post I have been reading on here for a long time only just joined....
Superb info here....
I am a Biker but also 4x4...
I am planning a overland trip through Africa and then all the way to Australia.. (Planning as in saving some money more than anything else lol)
in the 4x4 not on 2 wheels...
Now reading through the posts everywhere I see there are lots of people who would maybe appreciate a 4x4 forum on the side....
I run a few websites so I thought if people really want I would not mind putting up a free forum dedicated to 4x4 overlanding...
Obviously advertising HUBB on there....
but seen as there will be some time involved I don't wanna put it up and then nobody uses it....
So if people can let me know what they think about a more 4 wheel dedicated forum as suppliment to HUBB then I will think about putting it up as part of the website I am building for when I am on the road....

What would it offer that the Hubb doesn't?
The great thing about the Hubb is that that it has all the great information on the travel side of things already that would be difficult to replicate and the 4x4 sections here cover all the extra bits.
Also, anything that isn't already covered by the Hubb, will most likely be covered by make specific forums like ELCO for Land Cruisers, etc.

Sorry, but I don''t see the point of taking the 4x4 section away from the Hubb when the travel related info is just as important as the vehicle specific. As Julian says there are plenty of 4wd forums out there with very good info - I did suggest a while ago that we should have a 4x4 links page to put all the info in one place- perhaps a sticky on the 4wd tec pages.
I really think there is a lot to be learned from keeping all this together.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
