I have travelled through several countries in Europe in an LPG car twice, availability is fairly good in many areas both on and off the motorway however each country uses different filler systems so you will need a selection of adapters Holland uses uk bayonet style, germany uses a large screw thread and italy uses a different screw thread to Germany. The adapters do not seem to be easily available in the countries as you pass through - so you will need to get them before you go. I would think autogas2000 in Thirsk Yorkshire would be my first port of call for information and a Euro map of availability. They sell adapters - for the motorhome brigade and should be able to advise you on what you need for where. Depending on your range and your route you may well be running on petrol some of the time.

widely available all through europe, except (as of 2008) not in germany on the autoibahn rather bizzarely.
you can get adapters on ebay, although I did find they dropped the fill speed, mind bogglingly slow in poland!! in eastern europe (including poland) some garages only sell lpg!

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
