nuweiba entry into egypt.
we just crossed into egypt from jordan two days ago with a 2.8 turbo diesel isuzu trooper and still had to only pay the 1000 odd egyptian pounds entry tax. i don't know if this was because they didn't clock on that the engine was over 2 litres or what but after the expected to-ing and fro-ing from office to office we were out with a folder full of papers and number plates. -bear in mind if anyone asks you if they can help put your things back into your car after you've taken tehm out for the inspection or offers to help with the number plate, who is not blaitantly another car driver, (litle old men or young lads, don't accept as they will charge you around 10 egyptian pounds for a few seconds work!!!!!!!!!
otherwise the oficials are all smileing and pleased to help you. all the arab car drivers have to go through the same process.
police checkpoints are fine if frequent and even a rudimentary knowledge of arabic goes a long way.
