Is anybody planning a trip January 2009? Sahara or similar! Starting to prep 1990 Land Cruiser, anyone interested in forming a team or is there anyone there who has already started planning and looking for a further vehicle with two drivers

Not really Sahara, but, , ,
We are planning on a 2 vehicle run down.
1. Toyota Surf, 1996 = son-in-law and his eldest lad.
2. Toyota Landcruiser 2003 = me and other half.
The Surf has big tyres and aftermarket shocks, under-slung additional fuel tank available, ready to fit.etc. Just too COLD ! As he only gets low to mid 20's per gallon
We are talking about leaving UK some time spring 2009.
As it's just talk and planning, the departure date could easily move month either way.
Destination Cape Town.
Would like to do, Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Saudi, Yemen, then the ferry over to Africa Main. Might not be possible though.
Probably heading down east coast of Africa, then crossing to west coast at malawi, Zambia to Angola, then the run to C.T.
Did you have any routs in mind?

We will be (or rather planning to) start that part of out trip in Jan/Feb 09, depending on how our trip goes from eastern russia. We will be leaving from UK and planning to do the east coast of Africa, taking about 6 months or so. Initial thoughts are to cross from Italy to Tunisia (I think). We have a 2000 LC Troopcarrier.

Hi, I'm expecting to be leaving the UK November 08, having Jan and Feb 09 in Morocco. After a good look around Morocco we'll be heading south. Maybe see you around. Check my website nearer the time for developments; The build and travels of a Mercedes Unimog U1300L camper/expedition vehicle.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
