shipping to singapore
Hope someone can help

I'm planning at trip next year driving from the uk to oz. Having had a heart attack after finding out how its going to cost to get though china can anyone tell me how much it would cost to ship from india to se asia? also if anyone has info on shipping a car into oz?

it should be around $2000 US to ship chennai - KL if you fit in 20" container, could be less...

contact in bandar lampung for shipping from indon to malaysia or singapore

text message and see if he can give you an email address. He might be able to help with shipping from Singapore to Jakarta...

perkins.com.au can ship from singapore to darwin for $1000 break-bulk, or you could ship singapore - jakarta, island hop to dili and ship with, again, perkins from dili to darwin

australian quarantine and customs for overseas cars is very very strict and
you need to do your homework.... AQIS [aust quarantine inspectio nservice]
has a good website.... Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service - DAFF

Planning things like this is very dangerous. Things will change in a year, you wouldn't know. So check on the spot with travellers.

That said: It can be done for half the money from Bangladesh.

There's a lot of info about bringing vehicles into Aus on the HUBB.

Do a weblookup on "DOTARS" and "VSB10" which will give you the info you need on gaining entry. Also Customs website which will give ou their requirements for vehicles. Then AQIS which defines the quarantine cleanliness standards.

VSB10 is a booklet explaining import requirements and has just been amended.

RoRo ships operate India to Singapore and are usually a lot cheaper than containers and all the additional hassles of transport off the wharf.

Shipping India - Singapore
After quite some research we ended up shipping our Landrover in a 20 feet container from Vishakapatnam, India to Singapore about 2,5 months ago.

Got a good price. Total spending 600 USD.

Although it can be cheaper from Bangladesh we decided not to because of Visa costs (and hassle). Hotels and camping seems to be expensive as well for foreigners in Bangladesh nowadays (especially if you want to park your vehicle and camp inside). Said that, if you're planning to go to Bangladesh you might as well ship from there.

Please notice that the many rules in Singapore can be a pain in the ass for using the road. Must have a valid insurance and pay for ERP roaduse (unless you stay less than 10 days) etc. Check Land Transport Authority Singapore for more info on that.

Shipping to Kuala Lumpur is about the same price and might be easier...

Is Singapore the easiest/most reliable/cheapest in SEA?

What about other ports in Malaysia and Thailand for example?

Hi there am planing to make a trip from Oz to Europe next year strating from singapore and now am serching for tips over the net,good luck to you and hope you get here safely!!!!

Kuala Lumpur might be cheaper. You might look into the port charges, which are fixed and you can try and find them online somewhere. I had a list one day with all the ports and custom things. I somehow lost it. Check with the big liners about the faire. If you want to be on the cheap, do everything yourself, learn the lingo and foremost have patience...

Many thanks for all the very useful information!

However still feel like it will be cheating by missing out on China so if anyone is planing to go though china in around 18 months time and would like to share the £4000 cost please let me know.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love.
