Come to think of it, one of the reasons I changed the Prado for the X trail was the stupid insurance situation for the imported-into-the-UK Prado which is no different to the home model Colorado, apart from the badge.

I actually came to consider the xtrail after reading your thread on it 
It's big enough to sleep in and amazing mpg but hearing about the dpf issues and the low ground clearance is making me a bit buzzled still.
I'm getting the same insurance quote for the prado compared to UK Colorado so maybe what you mentioned is an old problem?
And regarding the Prado engine issues - well that's maybe a reason to keep looking for a d4d!
