Shipping to S.A.
Hi. I'm new to this site but very impressed with quality of contributions. Has anyone out there an informed opinion on shipping my 4X4 Iveco from EU to South Africa? Holland - P.E. as 1st option but open.

Padraig, there are a few RORO services that go from the EU to Africa, you could try wilhelmsen, K Line, Sc Line, MCL, Grimaldi etc
I have no first hand experience, but you could try posting in https://www.facebook.com/groups/OverlandSphere/ looks like a good group for four wheeled overlanders or Free forum : 4x4's, Overland Travel, Off Road, Touring and Camping
We are planning on heading down the east coast next year, just starting my build so would be interested in following your trip. What is your planned route?
Going to go to the Home - Adventure Overland Show in a couple of weeks hopefully pick some tips from others and have a good look at the kit for my rig..

Hi Padraig,
I've just joined this thread so it may be too late, but I shipped my landcruiser roro a few years ago from Tilbury to Mombasa. Last year I containerised it back to tilbury from Durban and for both I used SDV. I had them recommended to me by a friend and I must say they were very helpful. Not sure if they are the cheapest but Durban to Tilbury in a container was about £2500 last year I think. The car was broken in to on a roro on the way out, hence why I put it in a box for the return journey. Probably just my bad luck though.
Regards,
Henry

Dublin to S. A. by ferry
Hi Henry. Thanks for very useful info. As you see, our plans progressing VERY slowly. Now looking like Ro-ro to P.E. early May. Currently wresting with likely Carnet problems as we intend parking up for several months in Nairobi. Wondering how bolshy they're likely to be about overstaying our welcome. Hoping to fill in the gaps from fellow travellers en route. Quite a few lines shipping to P.E. on Ro-ro Tony. Didn't try Grimaldi yet though. Thanks anyway.
HI 4X4 Tim. My build/upgrade nearly done. More than happy to assist where I can. Mine's a 2nd gen. 4x4 Iveco turbo daily. Haven't driven it enough yet to have fallen in love . Expect all this will change though when she's the only gal in town! Padraig

If your 4x4 is not to big you could try a (shared) container. Contact africanoverlanders.com they may be able to give you a good price especialy when they have more people coming your way. Good luck Peter

Shipping to S.A.
Hoi Petrus, Iveco is 3m high, ruling out a container. Pity though as the security of it really appeals to me. We weekended with Duncan and Elie at African Overlanders last year. May yet call on their expertise before leaving Europe. Any direct experience with Carnet de Passage and Kenyan authorities? Groeten,Padraig
