I will second the advice about the process of buying, registering, and insuring a vehicle in Europe being expensive.
If you research "export plates Germany," you should find the information you need to do the process.
I bought a 2001 VW Golf TDI Wagon in Germany and got export plates. Registering and insuring it for 1 month was around $1000 Euros from what I remember.
I found the cost of insurance as a foreigner to be too high. You could always pay for 1 month of insurance in Germany and than risk driving it around in the Shengen zone for a couple more months.
I would only buy a motorcycle in Europe in the future. I do not miss the feeling of having to idle in traffic all the time, burning $12 per gallon gas.
