4x4 hire Sydney
Used to live in Sydney for 5 years and drove extensively through the Blue mountains. Decided at short notice to shoot over to Sydney for a week and looking to hire a 4x4 for 3 - 4 days to get back up in the Blue mountains. Looking for a more heavy duty 4x4 - eg landcruiser, landrover, hilux, Pajaro, etc, not a Rav4. Trying to find one at a reasonable price. Don't mind older / battered. Wondering whether there are any options for hiring a pick up / ute from a commercial rental place rather than a top of the range Landcruiser 100 series from one of the big brand normal rental companies. I know there are a couple of commercial rental places in Uk that rent out Defenders / Hilux's etc to motorway maintenance companies / building companies etc and wondering if there is anything along those lines in Sydney that may be worth considering.

update
Ended up hiring a Toyota Landcruiser 105 series 4.2 diesel non turbo. About 1 year old, had been lifted on OME suspension, bull bar, side bars, side steps, roof rack, roof tent, storage box, cargo barrier, storage system, 40 litre fridge and all camping equipment. Came from Britz. Cost about £45 per day but with a AUD$5000 excess. We paided £70 a day, no excess, insured for any recognised track so you could take it offroading. Did some pretty full on tracks in it. Good company to hire from. Vehicle really well kitted out down to cuttlery, cooking gear, stove, gas, fold out seats, the lot.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
