Hi,
There is plenty of accomodation options around Melbourne, it just depends on your budget.
There is backpackers accomodation, caravan parks with cabins, budget hotels and camp grounds if you have your own camping gear.
Wotif.com usually has cheap deals.
Landing on the 11th is a good date as it's just after the Easter Holidays when everything is more expensive as half or Australia tries to take a break.
Not sure if you mean to store the crate for reuse when you leave or simply unpack it and abandon it at the airport?
Regards,
Brett.

There are many accommodations in Melbourne you can find easily. When I was there I found this problem too but a taxi driver help me to find cheap accommodations.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
