I'm going through the process right now.

Waiting for quarantine inspection and booked in at the motor vehicle registration (MVR) office (Goyder road) on Friday, when hopefully I have possession of my bike - for an imported vehicle compliance check to obtain the CTP insurance.

But that will only be valid for NT. Once I cross the state border into Queensland 5 days later I have to obtain CTP valid in Queensland . . .

Australia don't make it easy!

Thanks so much for your kind offer Xander but I have already got a place to store my bike for christmas and new year in Victoria. So it wont be neccesary.

However I will be in Perth next week if everything goes well. Will have my bike serviced there. Any tyre shops with a good selection and reasonable prices in Perth? Any other advices for Perth and around, places to see, stay etc?

Hi and thanks for the advise about tyreshop in Perth.

I found this place on the net, seems good with a wide selection:

Motorbike dyno | North Perth | The Bike Doctor

Worth checking out?

Thanks for the other advices also...

Mezo.

I did use "Tyres for bikes"

Fitted a pair of Sava Invader 24. Unknown brand for me but is said to be 70/30 on/off road and looked similar to those I had Shinko 705.

Very quick service and helpful guys at Tyres for bikes.

Thanks for the advice guys - much appriciated!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
