Insurance NSW
Hi everybody,
I’m looking for a Insurance company in NSW, for a LH driven 4x4 motor home arriving late March on Dutch reg. with CDP in Port Kembla. Insurance requested for Third party Injury and Third party property.
The well known company : Carmarket from Kings cross car market is not active anymore!
Thanks,
Atte

A foreign registered vehicle arriving in NSW does not need the compulsory third party injury insurance, the state of NSW has graciously decided to cover that liability for you - see Visiting overseas vehicle < Get a new rego < Registration < Roads and Maritime Services
You must carry your vehicle registration documents and I'd advise that you print out that weblink and carry that as well if you ever get stopped. Make sure that your vehicle registration in Holland is current as that is a requirement for the CDP and the third party injury liability.
Third party property insurance is getting harder - usually third party property, fire and theft is offered now by most online insurers. Try the NRMA website, don't offer up info about being a LHD vehicle, its irrelevant anyway.

I should have added that the CMCA Home also do insurance for members, its almost worth joining just for the very comprehensive list of free overnight parking areas and toilet dump points.

Roger, thanks for this info. It makes it easier for the first few days.
Our vehicle is from overseas arriving in NSW, but we will visit all Australian states on our world tour. For that reason still looking for a insurance company to cover Third Party Injury and Third Party Property valid for all states.

Each state has slightly different laws, but once you have insurance in one state it covers you for all states, no need to buy new insurance each time you cross into another state.
When I was researching this for a Danish friend a few years ago, I was told by the NSW department that if a vehicle on a carnet arrived in NSW from overseas then they would cover the third party injury insurance in all states as part of the recognition of all road laws across all Australia. That was via a phone call and I never got it confirmed in writing.
However there are clear statements in all traffic regulations that say a vehicle legal for use in one state is legal to use in all states.
Obviously you'd need to keep the port of arrival details and a printed copy of that weblink I gave you.
